RON CLARKE, MBA
Consultant
I am the owner and manager of JBS BUSINESS SERVICES located in Trail. I earned my MBA from York University with concentrations in management accounting, entrepreneurial studies and marketing, a BA(H) and BEd from the University of Western Ontario, a Graduate Certificate from UBC in valuation techniques, and my Provincial Instructor Diploma from VCC.
My professional experience is broad, including the operating of my own small businesses, managing a small marketing division of Canon Canada, and involvement in the not-for-profit sector as Executive Director of our local KBRH Health Foundation. Recently I was also instructing business law at Selkirk College in the Business Administration Program as well as in the Instructor Diploma Program with VCC. I am pleased to provide to your organization not only management accounting expertise but an array of consulting experience – from business start-up and business succession planning to sales training and technical writing to tax planning and wealth preservation strategies.
I have called the Greater Trail area home for nearly twenty years now and I am committed to my community. Currently I am Past-President of the Trail & District Chamber of Commerce after serving 4 years as President and 2 as VP, and I am the former Secretary of the newly established LeRoi Community Foundation of Greater Trail, and Past-President of the Beaver Valley Nursery School Society. Home is Fruitvale with my wife Tammie, an RN and instructor at Selkirk College, and our six kids – although 3 are pursuing education elsewhere at this time.
KIM MARTIN, CGA
Accountant
I am a Certified General Accountant specialized in public practice. I completed my CGA and graduated with a Diploma in Business Administration – Financial Management, with a minor in computer science, from Mount Royal College in Alberta. The West Kootenay has been home since 1993.
My professional experience includes being the finance manager for infrastructure construction projects, controller of a multi-branch business, and auditor for city and government related organizations. In amongst those roles I have also gained accounting and tax experience in the small business sector.
As the Senior Accountant for JBS my priority is to help you optimize your business operations using best accounting, tax, and business management practices. I also really enjoy supporting my colleagues at JBS … it’s quite the team.
PAULETTE AINSLEY
Bookkeeper & Senior Tax Preparer
When I started in this business of accounting and bookkeeping, we did everything with a pencil, paper and adding machine… that’s an indication of how long I’ve been doing this. And I’m still doing this because I get great satisfaction helping people with their finances, especially income taxes.
My work experience has mostly been in public practice, working in Chartered Accounting offices, but I did spend some time working for a school board, bottling plant, insurance agent, optometrist and I also managed my own beauty salon. I have become quite knowledgeable in all areas of accounting, business and personal income tax. With my varied experience and some courses along the way, I know I can help you with your bookkeeping and income tax concerns, or at least refer you to someone who might be more appropriately experienced.
DAWN MINTON
Bookkeeper
I was born and raised in the Greater Trail area. I began my bookkeeping experience by helping my parents for ten years with the daily running of our family business. For many years I have prepared personal income tax returns and for three years worked for accounting firms in the area doing tax prep and bookkeeping. Recently I completed a CGA accounting course with honours and the Payroll Compliance Practitioner Certication Program offered by the Canadian Payroll Association. I currently volunteer with Girl Guides Canada and St Michaels School including being past Chair of the parent group at the school, and I was Treasurer with the Beaver Valley Nursery School for a number of years.
DEBBIE KEUS
Administrative Assistant
Originally from frosty Edmonton, my husband and I relocated to sunny Trail about five years ago. Besides my humour, I bring a diverse background in customer service, clerical and computer skills, and some bookkeeping acquired at a CGA firm in Edmonton. I love learning and have taken courses as varied as motorcyle lessons, first aid and bookkeeping, although not all at once. Having completed recently a Simply Accounting course, I plan on taking more! I’m an active associate member of the Trail Legion and an enthusiastic loyal season ticket holder for the Trail Smokies!
